For twenty years, Susan has been a trusted ambassador for companies and clients alike. Her extensive project experience ranges from Ralph Lauren retail store installations around the world, to custom apartment developments and private residences with BHDM Design. Her approach to design is collaborative to ensure successful, sophisticated and timeless spaces to meet each client’s needs.
Susan has a BS in Interior Design from The University of Wisconsin-Madison, a boutique program focused on the craft of design. She began her career in San Diego, CA with an in-house design position focusing on retail and custom built-in design for residential development projects all over the West Coast. After relocating to the midwest, Susan began her tenure with Ralph Lauren in Chicago before moving to the corporate office in New York to focus on global store interiors. Her broad understanding of custom millwork design, antiques dealers and artists around the world helped Susan transition to speciality hospitality and residential projects with BHDM, an award winning design firm in NYC.
In 2019, Austin Design Inc. was founded with the goal of bringing curated and thoughtful collaboration to each project, by understanding and defining the client’s sensibilities to help create their ideal environment. Past and current clients include Alfredo Paredes Studio, Starwood Capital Group and multiple private residences across the US.
